Hand #10
You WIN!
But you could have won more.
Insurance is a SUCKER BET that the casino will win 69% of the time.
Here's the arithmetic over one hundred hands:
You will win two units on the insurance bet thirty-one times and the casino will win one unit sixty-nine times. They'll be ahead by seven units after one hundred wagers. That a juicy 7% edge!
Casinos want you to think that insurance somehow "saves" your blackjack against a push, but don't be fooled. Insurance is a separate bet AGAINST your hand. It's a BAD bet because the odds favor your ace and ten. You'll earn more money in the long run (69% of the time) skipping the insurance and taking the 3:2 payment.
