Split is the correct play.
You should always split aces.
Each hand has a 38% chance turning into a twenty or twenty-one. If one hand loses the other is still likely to beat a nineteen and cause a net push.
And of course there is no guarantee the dealer will have ten as a hole card. He has a 23% chance of busting with a nine up.
Once again, it's an issue of raising your bet when the house is at a disadvantage. This is the only way to beat the casino in the long run. Hitting or standing instead of splitting is a COSTLY mistake.
