Double down is correct.
The dealer will bust 42% of the time when the upcard is five. You CAN'T bust (with one card). And your chance of making seventeen through twenty is 54%.
Of course, the dealer could make twenty-one and beat you, but that only happens 11% of the time.
Doubling down on a nine doesn't win as often as doubling on an eleven, but it's still a very profitable play when correctly used. The key is to only double on a nine against a three, four, five, or six. As we said on hand #1... Some people don't want to risk the extra money, so they hit instead. That is a COSTLY mistake. The ONLY way to beat the casino in the long run is to bet MORE when you have a clear advantage. This is one situation when the player has the advantage.
