Hand #3
You WIN!
But you could have won more.
And standing on a nine increases the risk that the dealer will beat you with a mediocre hand.
Doubling is the correct strategy. The dealer will bust 42% of the time when the upcard is five. You will usually receive a ten, jack, queen or king (as you see here). Your chance of making seventeen through twenty is 54%.
Doubling down on a nine doesn't win as often as doubling on an eleven, but it's still a very profitable play when correctly used. The key is to only double on a nine against a three, four, five, or six. As we said on hand #1... Some people don't want to risk the extra money, so they hit instead. That is a COSTLY mistake. The ONLY way to beat the casino in the long run is to bet MORE when you have a clear advantage. This is one situation when the player has the advantage.
