Double down is correct.
The dealer will bust 42% of the time when the upcard is six. You CAN'T bust (with one card). And your chance of making eighteen through twenty-one is 54%. Your hand will improve 23% of the time.
Of course, the dealer could make twenty-one and beat you, but that only happens 10% of the time.
Doubling down on a soft 18 against a dealer's three, four, five, or six is yet another example of raising the bet when the dealer is more likely to lose. It will win you more money in the long run. If the casino does not allow doubling on soft hands then the correct play in this situation is to stand.
