Hand #5
You LOSE!
Both hands busted on a run of
tens.
The correct play is to hit.
The dealer will either bust or have a seventeen 63% of the time. Your chance of getting a ten or ace on the first card is 38%. Or you might get a two or three and hit again for twenty or twenty-one.
Of course, the dealer could make a twenty or twenty-one and beat you or cause a push, but that only happens 15% of the time.
If you hit and make a thirteen through sixteen then you should hit again until you reach seventeen or above (or you bust). Splitting or doubling is not profitable in this situation. Eight is a mediocre starting hand. It will win more than it loses against a seven, but this is not the sort of card combination that deserves an extra investment.
